Sunstroke Magazine and HBO Max are partnering with AAPI Women Lead in hosting a dynamic conversation between Genera+ion’s Lukita Maxwell and AAPI women photographers Cindy Trinh, Hannah Yoon, Simrah Farrukh and Lagi Atoe to discuss the intersections of their identity, activism and craft. It will be moderated by journalist SuChin Pak.

Cindy Trinh is a photographer, visual journalist, organizer and activist who is passionate about social justice and human rights. Her work focuses on identity, culture, racial justice, immigration, activism and social justice. Cindy has been published and featured by popular media, including Paper Magazine, The Hill, Bloomberg Businessweek, The New York Daily News, Mic, Hyperallergic, The Culture Trip and more. She has exhibited at numerous museums, galleries and art spaces, including the Museum of the City of New York, Museum of Chinese in America, New York Arts Center, Canal Street Market, Rush Arts Gallery, Equity Gallery, and The Knockdown Center.
Cindy is the creator of Activist NYC, a documentary photo project about activism and social justice movements in New York City. Cindy also organizes a performance art event series titled "Be the Cure" showcasing various singers, musicians, comedians, poets, dancers and storytellers to fundraise for different social justice causes.

Hannah Yoon is a Korean Canadian freelance photographer based in Philadelphia. Her background is in photojournalism and documentary photography. She is interested in the way people relate to one another and is curious about how history impacts the present.
While studying sociology and psychology in college, Hannah became interested in social justice and racial justice issues. Through photography, she wants to better understand why we are the way we are and how everything is connected.
Hannah is a proud member of Women Photograph, Diversify Photo and founding board member of the Authority Collective. Hannah is part of these groups because she wants to see equity and growth in the photo industry.

Simrah Farrukh is an American-Pakistani photographer who primarily focuses on the South Asian community. Her work dives into the realities and dreams South Asians hold, as she believes both are equally important to share. Kinship, femininity and heritage are all recurring themes found in Simrah's work.

In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, I felt called to use my passion for photography to raise awareness of the social injustices and inequalities that continue to impact marginalized communities.
