Yaa Mensah-King is an 18-year-old from Harare, Zimbabwe. She was interested in the art of storytelling from a very young age and enjoys it in literature, film, and music. She adores writing in any of its forms be it poetry, prose, or screenplays. Film, though a relatively new interest for her, is her dream career path and the directors who have influenced her the most are Julia Ducournau, Yorgos Lanthimos and Wong Kar-Wai. She hopes to use film as her primary tool in the pursuit of change. When Yaa isn’t reading, writing, or watching a film, she is most likely playing her saxophone which she has done for over 5 years now, though she prefers classical to jazz.
