Antiquity Greeting Steel

Antiquity Greeting Steel details the slow decline of traditional Chinese culture specifically amidst the chase for modernization and monetization. Chinese villages, where traditional practices are most prominent, have been under the threat of urbanization. Growing up, I was told stories about how pieces of our culture, such as our dress, have been pushed out in favor of less unique, modern styles. Since then, Chinese youth have started and led trends to revitalize cultural styles, which inspired me to make this piece. It conveys the sadness I feel surrounding the decline in cultural expression, and my hope for the continued preservation of it.
